THE MAN BEHIND THE SCREEN

Rob McMicking is the founder of Paramount Graphics, he has been part of the entertainment industry for the past 25 years. His history in television, theatre administration and theatre publicity laid the foundations for the set up of his company Paramount Graphics.

Rob McMicking

Following a work experience stint in 1988 at Channel 10's Good Morning Australia during his school holidays, Rob was offered a full time position with the program. He trained from the ground up, doing live studio work, accommodating on-air guests, became a sound recordist, tape producer and video tape editor taking him around Australia and the world until he retired from Television in 1992.

After a half year break in America and a bit of time performing (singing and dancing, but that's another story)... Rob discovered a love for theatre that took him to work at the Sydney Theatre Company for several years, after which he was employed as publicist by leading theatre practicioner, Judith Johnson Publicity. During his five years with Judith Johnson, Rob helped to publicise many of the big and small shows of the time, some of which include Show Boat, Annie, Wizard of Oz, Hair, A Little Night Music, Art, The Sound of Music, Scam, Lyre Bird, The Three Divas, and The Merry Widow. Artist shows include Reg Livermore's Home Sweet Home, Tom Burlinson's Frank, The Sinatra Story in Song, John Waters Cafe' Brel, Caroline O'Connor's From Stage To Screen and Max Pellicano's Elvis to the Max.

In 2002 Rob produced his first design project, Reg Livermore's acclaimed autobiography Chapters and Chances; a coffee table style book in the format of a large show program. It was released in 2003 by Hardie Grant Books. In 2005 Rob designed the program for the GFO/NT production of An Inspector Calls, and in 2006 took a year to study web design, all of which led Rob down the yellow brick road to creating Paramount Graphics.

In 2007 Rob took his love for theatre and passion for design and created Paramount Graphics. Whether it be a large or small theatrical production, an actor site or a commercial / business site, Rob says his love of theatre enables him to bring the perfect blend of 'creative theatrical design' to each product; large or small.
