Q: When is the submission deadline?
All submissions must be received by Thursday July 31st, 2008. No extension is possible.
Q: When will the winners be notified?
Finalists will be notified by Monday 13 October, 2008 and the successful commissionee will be announced on Monday December 1st, 2008.
Q: How do I find out who the winners are?
We will post the details of the successful commission on our website on December 1st, 2008.
Q: I have submitted works to the Pratt Prize in the past. Am I eligible?
Yes.
Q: I have submitted a work to The Pratt Prize in the past and wish to resubmit a newer / reworked proposal. Can I resubmit the same work?
Yes.
Q: Can I submit more than one work?
Yes, but is preferable that only one be submitted from an artist.
Q: Do you provide notes on the works?
Notes will not be given as part of The Pratt Prize.
Q: Can I request feedback on my entry?
We are not able to provide notes or feedback on works or proposals.
Q: Once I have submitted my work, can I contact you for confirmation it has been received?
It’s not necessary. We will send you a letter confirming receipt of your entry.
Q: I don't live in Australia – am I still eligible?
Any Australian citizen or resident of Australia may submit entries.

Q: How do I know that my submission has been received?
Following the receipt of your entry, the Pratt Foundation will acknowledge its receipt in writing. Please allow 30 days for the acknowledgment to be sent.
Q: Who reads the entries?
The Judging panel will be evaluating your work / proposal.
Q: Who will be judging the finalists?
The Judging panel may request a meeting with the finalists. The panel will then make their recommendations to The Pratt Foundation for the 2008 Prize.
Q: I don’t have a script, score or recording of my work. Can I submit a synopsis or outline only?
Yes. We will accept treatments or synopses for works. Scores / libretto’s and recordings are welcome but not compulsory.
Q: I have had a staged performance of my work already. Can I still submit it to the Prize?
As the competition seeks to encourage new works and commissions, entries which have had a professional performance, or are scheduled for one, are not eligible. A professional performance is defined as staged for commercial purposes where all participants have received commercial payment.
Q: I have submitted my work to another award that is concurrent with The Pratt Prize. Can I submit it to the Pratt Prize too?
Yes.
Q: How does the commission work?
The judges will select a composer and writer who will receive a commissioning fee to enable them to continue work on their musical. The winning team or teams may also receive a workshop of their work, or support from professional director’s, choreographers and musical directors at the discretion of the judging panel.
